OAHU IslandOAHU is one of the six major tourist destination islands of Hawaii. Oahu is Hawaii’s most populous island, with over a million inhabitants in and around the capital city of Honolulu. Oahu’s main inhabited areas are on the south side of a mountain range, shielded from the numerous winter storms that come from the northeast, resulting in perfect weather on the famous beaches of Waikiki in the city of Honolulu. Oahu has two main tourist resort areas where you can choose to stay: The city of Honolulu has some hotels on famous Waikiki Beach and many more hotels within easy walking distance of Waikiki Beach, and with many restaurants to choose from. The North Shore is where surfers come to surf the famous Pipeline curling waves in the winter. You can fly on a side trip to the island of Oahu from Maui to see famous Waikiki Beach or the Pearl Harbor memorial near the international airport outside Honolulu on Oahu. -------
