Helicopter Tours are the most spectacular (and my favorite) way to experience the natural beauty of the islands.
About 85% of the Island is not accessible in any other way.
Discover Maui's most majestic secrets. View cascading waterfalls and deep lush valleys of the ancient West Maui Mountains.
Fly over the hidden interior of the Hana rain forest.
Hover over the lunar-like landscape of Haleakala, the world's largest dormant volcano.
Soar above Hawaii's tallest waterfall.
See the highest sea cliffs in the world.
Experience gorgeous tropical vistas and breathtaking panoramas of Maui's most popular points of interest.
Different types of helicopters are used.
1. The A-STAR is the industry standard, with bench seating for six passengers giving excellent visibility.
2. The state of the art WHISPER-STAR and ECO-STAR are the ultimate in sightseeing helicopters. With more interior room for up to seven passengers, elevated rear seating, and bucket seats for all.
Either type of helicopter you choose provides amazing views with a variety of itineraries.
Flights range from quick 30 minute mini tours to 65 minute full tours.
COMPLETE ISLAND TOUR
One of the two most popular tours is the Complete Island Tour which shows you the entire island.
You will get a birds-eye view of Haleakala, Maui's 10,000 foot volcano with its eerie moon-like terrain.
Fly over the rain forest of Hana, not only its long and winding road but also the interior which you could never explore by land.
Soar deep into the West Maui Mountains, the second wettest valley in the world. (Kauai has the wettest.) Impossible to see any other way. View the "Wall of Tears" and one of the waterfalls filmed in Jurassic Park.
WEST MAUI / MOLOKAI TOUR
The other most popular flight is the West Maui / Molokai Tour.
Journey over the ocean from Maui to the Island of Molokai.
View the tallest sea cliffs in the world (listed in the Guiness Book of World Records.)
Return to Maui and fly into the West Maui mountains, taking in all the beauty this magical valley possesses.
On both tours waterfalls abound.
SHORTER HELICOPTER TOURS
The shorter tours include Hana/Haleakala 45 minute tour and the 30 minute West Maui Mountain Tour. Both are fabulous if you are looking for something a bit shorter or less expensive, but still want an awesome experience.
Some helicopter companies also offer special trips that include stops at specific scenic points.
Private charters are available.
Seat assignment is determined by weight and balance. There is an additional charge for any person over 250 pounds.
All of the helicopters leave from the Heliport, which is located on the backside of the Kahului airport.
Every flight is amazing. No matter what tour you choose, it will definitely be the highlight of your trip.
